This volume of the journal contains seven papers and eight reviews. The contributions deal with agriculture and phenomenons of crisis in the region around Trier in the 3rd century A.D. [Seiler], two Agrippinensians at the Rhône River [Kakoschke], Aeneas Tacticus’ writings on rituals and city defences [Wu], terms of quality and second-hand goods in Graeco-Roman Egypt [Reinard], economy and society in early Late Aegean Bronze Age [Argyrou-Brand], identity and identification processes in the Severan Dynasty [Günther], and with Greek job titles from bynames, toponyms, and landmarks, particularly in Athos documents [Diethart, Voigt]. The book reviews relate to the festschrift for Jean Andreau and to publications on the origins of European law in Greece, Seneca’s De beneficiis, the antique economy of the Pontos region and the Aegean, the self-expression of poleis in Asia Minor on Hellenistic coins, Pliny the Younger and the social profile of senators of the Roman Imperial period, poverty in public discourse in Athens, as well as on recent research on the Silk Road and east-west exchange in antiquity.
