Klaus-Jürgen Sachs is a musicologist known for a series of groundbreaking studies. His 80th birthday offers colleagues, pupils and friends a welcome opportunity to honour the scholar and the man with a festschrift on his main fields of study, the music theory and the music of the Middle Ages and the renaissance.
The volume brings together thirty three contributions by authors from eleven countries, on a wide spectrum of themes ranging from ancient musical theory to the reception of early music in the 19th century.
