Als Schüler von Edward Kienholz entwirft Julius Busch Assemblagen aus Pappschachteln und Holzkästen, die auf der einen Seite Verwirrung, auf der anderen Seite Begeisterungsstürme auslösen. Sie polarisieren. Er selbst versteht sich als 'Wildsau, die den Erkenntnistrüffeln hinterherjagt' und seine kapriziösen Gedankentitel als semantische und mentale 'Knallbonbons', die gezündet werden wollen.
Seine Kästen sind solide Arbeiten eines Schreinerbetriebs, ein Steinmetz setzt die Buchstaben, ein Fotograf lässt die Fotos auf Porzellan brennen – alles überaus akribische Darstellungsformen. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Handwerkern und Spezialisten entstehen so feine Eichenholzkästen und grobe Assemblagen, die zu wilden Gedankensprüngen laden. Das aufwendig gestaltete Künstlerbuch ist somit vor allem eins: eine Abenteuerreise des Denkens. Skurril, dilettantisch und humorvoll. Eine Kunst, die polarisiert!
