Bild-Konzeptionen in Bilder- und Kinderbibeln
Die historischen Anfänge und ihre Wiederentdeckung in der Gegenwart
Marion Keuchen
Children’s bibles are one of the main media in the past and present Protestant religious education, but only recently, in the last three decades, scholarship focused on this topic. It is remarkable that there has only been little research on illustrations as a decisive element of children’s bibles though. In this book the author responds to this desideratum and develops a systematic approach that enables us to analyse pictorial conceptions relevant for both a whole children’s bible and a single illustration by itself. The author distinguishes a variety of intentions and functions of pictures. These newly developed pictorial conceptions contribute to interpret illustrations in old and new children’s bibles in a fresh and surprising way.
