Translation von Fachsprache in literarischen Texten
Ein deutsch-romanischer Vergleich
Ursula Wienen
With its diverse forms and functions, language for special purposes in literature represents a particular challenge for the translator. Drawing on examples from the areas of zoology and botany found in Frank Schätzing’s environmental thriller „Der Schwarm“ („The Swarm“) and in its translations into French, Spanish and Italian, this study shows how theoretical translational methods can be meaningfully applied with regard to literary effects. The book demonstrates this, making a clear distinction between the parameters of translating language for special purposes found in literary texts and those of specialised translation, with translation methods and processes being systematically discussed on the basis of a special translation theory analysis model.
