The PhD thesis contributes to predict the flank load capacity for pitting strength, by means of advancements of the FE-based tooth contact analysis as implemented in the program system STIRAK. This allows using the potential of asymmetric gears to increase the pitting resistance. Thus, a method was created – according to Method A of DIN 3990/ISO 6336 – to carry out a standard-based calculation of pitting resistance using the extended calculation method of the FE-based tooth contact analysis.
