This fourth acritarch volume includes accessible published information on 1217 different „species“ of acritarchs, tasmanitids and leiospheres, and similiar organic-walled, presumably phytoplanktic micro-fossils. Without taking into consideration possible synonymies, these 1200 „species“ sit in 201 „genera“, which gives us an average number of 6 species per genus, with as extremes thirty or more monospecific genera and some ten genera of more than 50 species.
