The volume contains a report on the progress of the society for the period between January and December 2016, a list of members, and six papers. The contributions deal with Potsdam at the transition from the Middle to Late Bronze Age and the excavation of a cemetery with stone settings at Berliner Straße 72 [Beilke-Voigt], migrations from east to west and the archaeology of migration in the 3rd mill. B.C. [Kaiser], human remains from Easter Island and first insights into the contents of Felix von Luschan’s so-called S-Collection, one of the largest anthropological collections, now kept in the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte in Berlin [Kowalak, Heeb], the quest for the earliest inhabitants of Berlin in former St. Petri churchyard and the international research project “Medieval Space and Population” [Melisch, Gerlisch, Jungklaus, Killgrove, Nagy, Powers, Rothe, Teßmann, Tichomirowa, White], the anthropologist and ethnologist Bernhard Struck [1888-1971] from Jena [Pittelkow, Hoßfeld] as well as the results of anthropological analyses from the Bronze Age cemetery at Potsdam, Berliner Straße 72 [Teßmann].
