RFID is a key enabler of supply chain operations. RFID is one of the most important developments of our time. This is mainly due to the fact that RFID technology provides the visibility and traceability with a great potential to streamline the supply chain by improving efficiency and effectiveness. This volume, edited by Thorsten Blecker and George Q. Huang, presents current research and applications of RFID in practice, e.g.
– implementation challenges, identity-based tracking and web services for small- and medium-sized enterprises
– the integration of RFID and connective technologies in retail stores
– RFID based system for real-time fruit management
– application of RFID and sensing technology for improving frozen food quality management
– RFID for customer relationship management
– the use of RFID technology for the improvement of unloading processes.
In addition, this volume dwells on logistic standards and emerging issues such as privacy and security considerations for RFID systems, legal and ethical issues concerning or the role of consumer education in the future of this technology.
This book is addressing both academic researchers and ambitious practitioner who are performing in the area of RFID.
