Sicherheitstechnische Untersuchungen im Bereich der LDPE-Hochdrucksynthese
David Zink
Established methods and rules in safety engineering according e.g. to the german guideline TRAS410 cannot be applied to the LDPE process in a simple manner due to the short residence times and the deflagrative decomposition reaction of ethylene under the process conditions.
The present work is divided into two, largely independent parts. The first part shows the experimental methodology for the safety-related assessment in regards to the thermal stability using a difunctional comonomer in the LDPE process.
In the second part, a method for the systematic design of pressure relief devices for the LDPE process is developed. Beside the time-dependend calculation of the pressure course during the venting of a ethylene deflagration, experimental measurements of safety-related key parameters, relevant for the modelling, are an important part of the thesis.
