The volume contains acknowledgements, a foreword, a private eulogy, a bibliography, a list of theses completed under the supervision of the honoured, and 36 papers. These contributions are attributed to four chapters on sources / concepts / methods [6 papers], the Stone Age [17], the Metal Ages [9], and the Roman Iron Age to the Middle Ages [4]. The theory section deals with Stone Age lake finds, cenotaphs, redundancy analyses, border zones, gender-specific posture in graves, and stamps. The most recent topics are military knowledge in Germania Magna, botanical data for Late Antiquity, the Visigothic Empire, and stirrup strap fittings.
