The volume contains acknowledgements, a foreword, a private eulogy, a bibliography, a list of theses completed under the supervision of the honoured, and 36 papers. These contributions are attributed to four chapters on sources / concepts / methods [6 papers], the Stone Age [17], the Metal Ages [9], and the Roman Iron Age to the Middle Ages [4]. The theory section deals with Stone Age lake finds, cenotaphs, redundancy analyses, border zones, gender-specific posture in graves, and stamps. In the Stone Age part there are texts on individual sites such as Mittlere Klause, the tells at Argissa, Gomila, and Sânandrei, amulets, salt production, the Linear Pottery, Großgartach, Rössen, and Vinča Cultures, the Foeni Group, circular enclosures, idols, landscape change, houses, mattocks, and mobility. For the Metal Ages there are papers on steppe occupation in the 2nd millenium B.C., spoked wheels, the Adriatic Bronze Age, Mega sites, a Cypriot weapon from Banat, lance heads, the Nordic Bronze Age an the Hittites, feasting habits, and cavalry obstacles. The most recent topics are military knowledge in Germania Magna, botanical data for Late Antiquity, the Visigothic Empire, and stirrup strap fittings.
