Anglia Pontificia – Subsidia I
Pars I-III: Lanfranci Cantuariensis archiepiscopi, S. Anselmi Cantuariensis archiepiscopi, Gileberti Foliot Gloecestriae abbatis et Herefordensis, dein Londoniensis episcopi epistolae
Rudolf Hiestand, Stefan Hirschmann
The first volume of the subseries „Anglia Pontificia – Subsidia“ of the Göttingen series on papal documents „Regesta Pontificum Romanorum“ contains the extant letters of the Archbishops Lanfrank (†1089) and St. Anselm von Canterbury (†1109) as well as of the Abbey of Gloucester and later Bishop of Hereford and London, Gilbert Foliot († 1188/89). Any mentions there of the relationships between these Archbishops and the Church of England at the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th century (among others, the Pontificates of Alexander II, Gregor VII, Urban II and Paschalis II) as well as in the second half of the 12th century (among others, the Pontificates of Eugen III, Hadrian III and Alexander III) are analysed.
