Jüdische Museen in Ostmitteleuropa
Kontinuitäten – Brüche – Neuanfänge: Prag, Budapest, Bratislava (1993–2012)
Katalin Deme
The aim of the present study is twofold: first, to examine how the Jewish museums in Prague, Budapest, and Bratislava reacted to the abolition of the controlling mechanisms of the socialist state in their exhibitions and in their pedagogical, cultural, and scientific activities; and second, to demonstrate how they seized the opportunity to present Jewish history and culture independently of the standards of museological presentation which prevailed until 1989.
