Militärische Erinnerungskulturen in Preußen im 18. Jahrhundert
Akteure – Medien – Dynamiken
Frank Zielsdorf
The characteristics of commemorative cultures and their origins are described as part of the development of military identity and thereby of a proceeding professionalisation in Prussia in the 18th century. The focus is on the Commemoration of the ancient Prussian Regiments. Likewise commemoration of military events, individuals and groups by other actors such as the monarch, noble families and members of the public are taken into account. So the network of military comemmorative cultures can be deciphered as reflected in media, content and dynamic transformations, which developed from complex interactions between different actors and was characterized by coexistence and competition, by influence and adaptation, by displacement and dominance.
