Regarding the Hebrew book of Job as well as concerning the Greek version, there has been much debate on the controversial question of an afterworld and the hope for resurrection. Yet a monograph looking into this topic in such depth remained unseen. Compared to other studies, this thesis stands out due to its efforts of understanding the main texts according to its original intents. The author discusses the topic also from the points of view of history of religion, history of tradition, and history of theology. The results of this convincing analysis are an important contribution to understanding the biblical idea of resurrection.
